Good day,

We have purchased a new pool which is a small above ground 15' pool. We also decided to go with the Hayward Aquatrol Low Salt system.

My goal would be to use a timer to run the pump ~ 12 hours a day from 7 am to 7 pm.

However, from what I can see, there is no flow switch with this model and from what I can read it is not required. Is this true ? When the pump is not running and the salt system is generating chlorine, I can see some air bubbles exiting the jet.

So can I leave my salt system on 24/24 but run my pool pump ~12 hours a day ?

Thanks!

Basically, question would be..

Is it better to leave the Hayward Aquatrol ON at all time even if my pump will be off 12 hours a day... Or I should put the power of the Hayward Aquatrol on the timer so that when the pump turns off it will also cut power to the aquatrol ?

Thanks

Spy,

Welcome to TFP... A Great resource for all Canadian pool owners.... Eh! :shark:

It would be better to power the SWCG controller from the same timer as the pump.. In fact, all of the other SWCG manuals I have ever seen, specifically say that you should remove the power from the controller any time the pump is off.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thank you all for the information.

I will reconfigure my setup tonight so that the timer will power on/off the pool pump and salt system together. So both the pump and salt system will be ON or OFF at the same time.

Much appreciated,
Pierre
