Looks like I need to replace my salt cell. I am getting "check salt" and "inspect cell" indicators, as well as inconsistent salt level readings. I just checked online and it looks like the replacements (40k gallon) are $900! I was not expecting this. A few years ago I bought my last replacement for around $400. Is this normal, or supply chain issues, etc? Is it worth looking into off-brands or is refurb options? Any advice would be very helpful. Thanks!

The rare earth minerals that are used in the cells has skyrocketed in price. So that $900 for a replacement cell is about right from what I see. I doubt we will see that come down in the near term, if ever.
Off brands are viable. Depends on your risk tolerance. Most cheaper cells are simply using less rare earth coating and thus last a shorter time.

Have you review the Hayward wiki to be sure there is not another issue?
