Hi guys. I got a one year old aqua trol hp and I got my pool ready to turn the swg on this year. All chemicals are good. Salt is 3200. Yesterday I turned it on and it seemed to work fine. Got home to just a power led on is all. I turned it off and unplugged for a few minutes and plugged back in. I have no led for flow , no led for chlorinating. I saw a previous thread on the aqua rite to select proper t cell but I don't remember having to do that last year. I called my wife and she went out and tried pressing the diagnostic button 8 times to see but it goes back to original screen showing salt level. Oh going through the diagnostic sequence the current salt is showing as 0 now. I'm guessing I have to do some voltage checks when I get home from work? Everything is one year old. I don't know if I'm past the one year warranty or not yet. I wanted to make sure I did have a problem before bothering Hayward. My t-cell is a T-5 and my pool size is 12,400 .
Tks. Greg Morris

This is the basic information we need to know in diagnosing a problem:

  • Report all readings when you..
    • Move the switch from auto to off and check all of the readings.
    • Move the switch back to auto and recheck the readings.
    • Move the switch to off for a minute and then back to auto and recheck the readings.
  • What are the first seven characters of the cell and box serial numbers?
  • What is the actual salinity and how are you measuring it?

Ok I'll have to do all that when I get home today. I checked salinity with some strips and when I first turned the aqua trol on I let it run for a few hours and went by that. After several hours I figured up about how much I needed and added some more. Several hours later I was up close to 3000 so i didn't add anymore. The next morning it had crept up to 3200. I have a kit I bought through here that I can test for salt with. I'll do that when I get home. Thanks.

Well it's working as it's supposed to now. The display is showing 3300 on salt when you open the door. Temp is 71, voltage is 26.8, amps 3.80, it's on 83% which I will have to adjust down. Current salt reading is also -3300, then AL-6 which is for aqua trol I think, and rev is 1.47. so I don't know. I don't understand what was happening yesterday.
