Hello! I purchased a house recently with an old spa that needs a little TLC. My biggest issue right now is there is a cracked ball valve that I need to replace, but can't find the part. The part is a Hayward 722-UA valve. It is threaded on both ends. I can find replacement 722 valves online, but none are threaded on both ends. I think maybe this is called a "union" connection? I'd like to find a solution that I can just screw on w/o having to cut pipe, cement new fittings, etc.

Here is a picture:

Duct tape was temporary fix to minimize the leak until I finished draining the tub.

Question 1:
What is the difference between the 722 and 723 valve? Are the threads compatible? I found a 723 (link below) that looks similar, but don't know if it will work:

Question 2:
Looks like there is a newer version out there - do you think this valve is plug-and-play with the old fittings/nuts?

Thank you in advance!

The SP0723UN worked as a replacement! It looks the same as the 722-UA, so not sure why the different part numbers, but it fit with no issue.

The other valve did not fit. It could perform the same function, but the connections are not compatible. I'd have to cut the pipes and attach the new fittings on either end for it to work. I will say that the new model seemed to be a little more heavy-duty, so if I had to do a wholesale replacement I would probably use that one instead. But fortunately I did not have to.

Hope this info helps someone else!
