I've had my pool since 2010 and have been following the tfp method consistantly; slamming usually once a year the last couple of years.
This year, the chemistry has been unstable. I had to slam twice. After the first slam, the FC would not stay up even with SWG at 80%, then got yellow powder at bottom
sides of pool, so slamming again; first time took 3 weeks, now another 2 weeks; barely using the pool this summer.
Today's test results with TF-100 kit: fc 22 cc0.5;TA 160, ch 160, cya 25(which surprised me, during first slam it was 60, and I have been keeping the pool cover on
to minimize FC uv loss, and the cover also keeps the rain water out so shouldn't be diluting the cya. I open the pool to scrub the sides/bottom. I checked behind the pool lights and there is no algae back there; I cleaned the cartridge filter last week, and in the spring.
I'm still getting 3-4fc oclt after two weeks of slamming. I'm desparate enough to try algaecide.
Any suggestions?
