No, sorry for not being clear. When I started the slam the FC dropped 10 ppm over a 24 hr period. The next 24 hr period it only dropped 6. Work has been crazy, thanks Harvey.... so haven't been able or made the time to watch it close. I am going to continue to slam and do the overnight test tomorrow. Water looks excellent and no sign of algae in the pool right now. Will make sure that I pass the overnight FC loss test. I'm thinking that my pool doesn't get a tremendous amount of sunlight during the day ( especially as we approach winter).
FC-16 (driving to 18 per pool calc)
ph - 9 (driving to 7.2)
TA - 85
CH - 200
CYA - 45
CC - >.3 (using 10 ml sample to conserve test chemicals) should i not trust the CC measurement due to the smaller volume sample ? Instructions call for 5 drops of R003 with my kit.
Planning to let it run all day tomorrow and will do the overnight chlorine loss test tomorrow night. Let me know if there are concerns for the long duration between tests.
pH test is not accurate when FC is over 10. How were you getting to 9 on the pH test? Mine only goes to 8.2.
All I use is the 10 ml sample to test FC, it is accurate enough for me. And if the sample took 1 drop of R-0871 to turn clear after adding the R-003 then it would be .5 CC.
You can order a refill kit from tftestkit.net when you are running low.
While you are slamming the pool it is best to test often, maintaining the higher FC level makes the process end quicker. We always round up CYA to the next line on the tube so 45 would be 50 and you should target 20. If you want to use just a 5 ml sample each drop will mean 1 ppm of FC. No need to test CC until the end of a slam.
Thanks for the reply, the engineer in me can't write down 8+......just a guess. Now that I know it is tied to Chlorine level I will simply wait to see how the overnight test goes.
After 24 hrs FC was about the same today at 17 (I added bleach last night). So I am thinking when I test in the morning I should have good results. Will follow instructions on over night test and hope for a good result. Thanks for the guidance.
