Hack My Pool

Muriatic Acid process again?
Yes, anytime the FC is under 10. (Non slam times). The Ph will rise quickly with a 350 TA, they are besties that are rubber banded together. Each cycle will lower the TA and Ph rise will eventually ease up with a much lower TA.

Okay - I just added muriatic acid to get my pH back into low 7s. Once I get there, I will start SLAM. I will keep everyone up to speed!

Glad some of my work calls are getting canceled! Makes this easier for certain!

Super appreciative of all the guidance and support getting me to this point - I had NO IDEA what I was in for, and it's incredibly heartwarming having such smart people share their craft to help us Newbies!

It very well may be a quick and easy one and the iron might be the only thing going on. Lord knows the universe owes you a solid right about now. 🤞

Stupid time zones. I legit done pulled over for an update and got bupkiss for it !!!

Anywho, let's button this up for poolstored. Think how happy he'd be to come back from his long weekend away to see you with the stoopid clear TFP water. He was so good to you. Do it for him. :)

Okay… PoolMath… riddle me this

SLAM target has been 16 all along. I input my FC, which is now a 6, but I’m getting this “outside of range” notice. Do I roll with 16, adjust until the alert goes away?

It's just a gentile reminder that you shouldn't be in SLAM. Kinda passive aggressive, but she means well. 99% of the time it helps.

Okay! Just making sure I wasn't going to mess this up. I'll target the difference of 6 to 16!

Pool looks a bit like pickle juice today! I will take it over dark brown, orange... and every other color of the gross rainbow this thing has been!
PSI on the filter still holding really good at 5... no substantial change there
Water level above the skimmers
The stupid wind is doing me no favors! Otherwise sunny and 70s (air temp) is giving me a mid 70s pool temp!

I'll run PoolMath again - and off we go to ROUND 2 of Chlorine!

Round 3 of chlorine in. A little lower on FC this time - I added some water to the pool.

The polyfil bucket is still kicking Rear and taking names.

Pool looks like melted green and yellow popsicles. Smells terrible - nothing like popsicles

PSI is still holding real strong at 5

Keeping up with the leaves has been a chore - if the wind could die down a bit that would solve a lot of my issues!

Took a chlorine-test recess to check my poly-bucket. Holy moly… this is 3-ish days worth of cycling “filtered” water to get more of the rust out. The “gross” water reminds me of that V8 Carrot Juice!

Swapping back to normal filtration for a bit while we clean up the poly-bucket.

FC dropped back to 1. So we have some ground to make up. I’m heading to pick up more chlorine as I opened my last jug on hand.

Progress is slow but visible!!!

With so much FC loss, you clearly made the right call skipping the OCLT and going right to SLAM. You wouldn't have lost any substantial ground had you waited 12 more hours with chlorine in the water, but still. Nice call. (y)

OMG!!!! What do I do?!?!

I just tested and am at 35 drops, which means 16.5 FC!!!!! My goal was 16!!!!!

I’m freaking out!!! Did I do it right?!?!

Do I just let the chlorine roll (not add any more) and check again in 2 hours?!?

Holy moly!!!!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
