Hack My Pool

Grabbed the PoolMath app on my phone - TONS better for certain! Heading to Menards now... I will keep everyone apprised of my progress.

I'll measure out 20.4 oz and go a "measurable splash" at a time for 15 min increments. I'll get my pH tester and put it to work today!

Also - I have not run ANY chem tests today - we have full sun, and its 76 degrees air temp (no idea on pool temp - haven't checked) - should I run a full panel of tests and post results before starting the "descent" on pH?

Eyeballing close enough is plenty close enough. You can sharpie the jug with 1/6ths (etc) until you get good at guesstimatimg. Between rain and evaporation the pool will never be dead on 5000 gallons anyway.

Get a good CYA test with the sunshine. Then run the others too.

When pouring liquid chlorine or Muriatic acid just pour it slowly infront of a running return & brush the area.
You can float the jug on the water to help with the weight when its full.
I hold the jug in one hand & the brush in the other. Pouring & brushing/mixing.
You also want to be upwind to avoid fumes - i hold my breath especially for the acid😊

Keep going until the BOOM PINK change. Then add one drop to ensure no further change and remove the last drop that didn't change it.

Make sure to wipe the tip as directed. That bottle picks up a static charge in shipping and takes some tests to work out. It reads high at first if not wiped or not wiped enough.

Your area has notoriously high TA, but it might not be 370 high.

Also, let's get ahead of the next one. If you let the FC test sit, it may go pink again a few seconds later. That one doesn't count. Once it's clear, dump it and move on, or ignore whatever else happens afterwards if you got sidetracked and notice it pink again. :)

Ok GREAT. Get going on lowering the Ph. Once at a low 7, your choice if you want to
SLAM Process, or Overnight Chlorine Loss Test. If you pull the trigger on the slam and didn't need to, you pass the 1st OCLT so it's really kinda a half dozen or six.

Normally the water clarity would help decide but that's its own bag of fun at the moment. Got more pics ? How's that going ?

PoolMath says 65 oz. Thoughts?
Small batches, 'member ? :)

.4 at a time.
Pool clarity is looking awesome!
Sweet. Clarity is a double edged sword. If it's horrific, you make big noticeable progress and then go mad when it slows to a crawl while it's almost there but not quite.

Remember all this progress when it becomes a patience testing waiting game. It's still working, but slooooooooowly with less to remove. Lol.

Yep - slowly doing 26 oz over a long period of time to start… that’s the 0.4

And this is the longest lesson in patience!! But loving seeing the progress. And honestly the fact that I CAN do this makes me feel good! I was absolutely the “no way in heck can I handle a pool” girl about a month ago!

8.2 to 7.8 with 370 TA is 14 oz at a time. Sorry I missed it when you said 4 oz.
