Power surge tripped my pool pump switch a couple of days ago, and since it was timed to run at night, I didn’t notice right away. Have a hint of green started in the part that takes longest to get full sun, so I’ll be SLAMing starting tomorrow morning! Shouldn’t take too long to clear.

i usually look for the little green light on the pump when I take dogs out, but it slipped by me this week!

Ok, all you anxiously awaiting a photo... here’s what we are starting with! I did my first addition a few minutes ago. Handily, pH was already at 7.2, and I had so much rain and overflow that my CYA dropped to 20! Another reason for the algae. It definitely spread and deepened since yesterday.

I was going to hop in and brush, but I got a lightning alert from one of my weather apps, so that will have to wait.

Yay pics !! You know...... a nice new resin pool would solve the problem too.

Yeah, tell it to the suppliers who have been sold out for months!

I‘ll keep this one going until too cold to get in, and probably leave standing to preserve the bare ground, then look to replace in Feb or March before it gets too hot.

Dang !!!! For a moment there I forgot about the ‘Rona. *sigh*. *puts mask back on*

Ok, just did first check, FC was 3.5. Added 54 ounces to boost back up to 12.

I’m running the auto cleaner since I’m not getting in today (the sky just to my north is almost black, and it has been nonstop rumbling), and all the green spots have been dispersed. Will check again in about 3 hours.

Oh, and all the people on the frog thread will be happy to know that I saved a lizard 🦎. He was trying to climb out but couldn’t quite make it.

Last but not least, wear old clothes to SLAM. These used to be black shorts!

Checked again, FC at 5, added to Pool Math’s specs to get to 12. Did a haphazard brushing from outside of pool (I find it much easier to brush when I’m in it). Hopefully the weather will give us a lightning free break tomorrow so I can get in and really scrub.

I’ll test at least twice more tonight. One good thing about being stuck at hone - can test and add frequently!

Me & my daughter have been on a tie dye tear lately - we’re doing bleach tie dye next! I have a few shirts & shorts like this on the waiting list 😁

Got distracted and didn’t test first thing. Checked at 10:30, down to 5.5, so added 42 ounces. I’m going to need to hit Pinch a Penny for a refill today.

Pool definitely getting there. Have some stubborn dark spots that I would wonder if they were black algae, if my pool wasn’t vinyl. When I can FINALLY get in (yes, it is storming, again) if they are still there, I’ll get a closer look. Brushing them from outside did nothing, but I can do a better job from inside.

Latest test, I was at 6. Added 46 ounces, and I’m going to test again in a few to be sure my LC is at full strength. Then off to Pinch a Penny for more!
