Got the TFT test kit in today and ran the test. Results are below, from what Ive read looks like I need to drain some water to get the CYA down before I do anything. I am looking to go to a SWG this year and want to get the chemistry right before I do. Currently I am using a auto chlorinator with tabs...

FC- 2.5
pH-4.5
TA-0
CH-675
CYA-200
CSI- -1.00

How are you getting a pH of 4.5? Are you using a pH meter? If your numbers are indeed that bad, it looks like you've overdosed on trichlor tablets. Try testing your fill water for pH, TA, and CH.

Was the 200 CYA diluted ? If so it needs to be diluted again. 2 parts tap water, 1 part pool water for the 'sample', and then multiply by 3.

While we for sure need to drain most the pool, we need a true # to know if most will be enough.

The PH level is a guess 4.5 or less because When I did my TA test my liquid turned red instead of green or blue. I searched the cause and that what I read...

Yes it was diluted. I put in 15ml filled up to 30 shook then poured out back down to 30.

Luckily you have a fiberglass pool, and no heater per your signature. Otherwise you would be destroying your pool.

Get the TA up. Now. You can add 20 lbs of baking soda right now. Then circulate and test TA. If you get a TA level, then start your water exchange. I would not drain and refill in your area (a more precise location would help).

EDIT - oddly your CH is elevated. So I would put the baking soda in the water in small batches. Mix well.

Tell us how you performed the CYA, TA and pH tests, please?
CYA I filled 15ml of pool water then added the R-0013 up to the 30ml line shook and then let rest added till I could not see the dot and it didn't make it up to the line so I did the same thing over again but after 15ml of pool water I added tap water up to 30mil shook and then poured out down to 15ml and reseeded and multiplied by 2

TA was
  1. Rinse and fill sample tube to 25ml mark.
  2. Add 2 drops R-0007; swirl to mix.
  3. Add 5 drops R-0008; swirl to mix. Solution should turn green or blue.
  4. Add R-0009 one drop at a time, swirling continuously, 1-2 sec between drops. Repeat until color changes, and stops changing.
  5. The last drop that caused a change is the drop count. Multiply #drops by 10 to get TA.
PH was T-100 test kit 5 drops R-0014

Well I do have a heater I just don't know what the model number So I didn't not add it. I am in Greer, SC. You will have to forgive my ignorance but when you say circulate what exactly do you mean?

Then get that TA above 0 fast! You are doing that heater no favors. The water is dissolving the heater core.

Circulate. Run the pump. Brush the pool.

Yes it was diluted.
Ok great. But when you diluted it, it landed at 100 which needs to be diluted. 🤦‍♂️

So it's over 200 and could be considerably over. Mine was a 360, for example. You have to keep diluting (and multiplying by one more) until it's clearly under 100.

But at 200+ it's also really a moot point because whether it's a 75% drain or 90% drain isn't going to change much. Aim for a full drain if doing an exchange to ensure you get enough out.
