Green water

I have a 30,000 gallon plaster home pool that is four years old. Haven’t had much trouble with it but now it is green and I don’t believe it is algae. I have shocked it with Potassium peroxymonosulfate and then with dichloro. I replaced the sand in my filter. I have tried clarifier and metal out. I performed the over night test and my FAC stayed the same. Here are my test levels
FAC 8, TAC 8, CH 350, CYA 60, TA 100, pH 7.5, TDS 1,000. What am I missing?

You put any algaecides in it?

Any pool products with "blue" in the name?

No algaecide. I did shock with trichloro that contained copper, but it was green before that. I had the pool store test for copper and it was negative.

You now have a copper problem in your pool. The green water is a classic symptom.

Best thing to do is drain and refill the pool before the copper stains the surface. Draining has risks.

First, welcome to TFP!

That is almost certainly algae, it doesn't really match the green of copper and it is cloudy and there appears to be some organics on the bottom (hard to tell from the picture, could be wrong).

I would say the best course of action is to follow the SLAM Process. It will require doing your own testing with an appropriate kit (TF-100 or K-2006c) and following the process exactly without attempting shortcuts. If it is algae the green will start to fade to a milky white within a couple of days, if it is copper then it will becoming a darker shade of green within a couple of days. I will say again though, I am pretty confident that this is algae and SLAMing the pool will correct the issue.

It looks like a lot of organic waste is laying on the bottom. Why do you think it's not algae?

Hello and Welcome to TFP!!

Algae unfortunately.
You will need a test kit with a FAS-DPD chlorine test, lots of liquid bleach, brush daily and follow the SLAM Process.

Copper is more of a clear emerald green. This is a cloudy kinda green.
There is nothing on the bottom of the pool. What you see in that pic is shadows from the clouds. How can it be algae if TC and FC are the same and it passes the over night test? Thanks for the help.

Keep at it! The more often you can test and get back to your FC target, the quicker it will go. Brush and vacuum as much as you can as well.
