I'm not sure if I am supposed to create a new thread or if it's ok to piggyback off of this threat since my situation is similar to Momspool thread and a few others with green pool problems. To start off, my pool has gone from a nice clear blue to a dark green that cause me to completely close down swimming until this problem is under control. I am following the SLAM directions (I think I am following the SLAM directions correction) with the chlorine, testing the pool once in the morning and once in the evening. I have to be honest, I am reading threads from different members, and they are somewhat confusing. Do I or do I not bother with the other chemicals while I am slamming? I have been using only liquid chlorine for the past four days in the amount recommended by the pool math. One thing I want to mention before I forget, I think algae in my pool is mustard algae because every time I brush the pool the algae move like a dust especially around the walls and floor. I brush and vacuum the pool every day and the next day the algae is back on the floor and walls. Attached are pictures I took today to show somewhat of the problem I am having. Just like Momspool, the deep end is totally swampy looking and not able to see the one foot from the top. The reading from my test this morning and additional information about my pool and the equipment:
FC = 3
CC = < 0.5
pH = >6.2
TA = 120
CH = 200
CYA = 0
Equipment
25,000 gl
Hayward sand filter and chlorinator
HP single speed pump feed

Any help given is highly appreciated.

I should ask first, how are you testing? You will need either a K2006C from amazon or a TF100 or TF pro from tftestkits.net. Using one of those kits you can slam.

Have you read all the slam process? SLAM - Shock Level and Maintain
When you start the slam it is best to check chlorine frequently, every 2 hours is good. As chlorine begins to hold it becomes easier to check less, but 3 times a day at a minimum.

That just looks like regular algae to me, but even if it were to be mustard algae, you have to complete a regular slam first.

Also, use pool math to calculate 30 ppm of CYA and add it using the sock method. Without it you will not be able to hold chlorine, the sun will eat it.

First, What test kit are u using?
The SLAM Process entails replenishing slam level fc for your cya FC/CYA Levels as often as possible- only testing & dosing twice a day will drag things out.
Without cya any fc u add is gone quite quickly but BEFORE u add any & begin the slam process you need to ensure u don’t have ammonia
