Green swamp at opening

Take them out!!! Scrub the inside with 10:1 water/bleach. There is likely algae in there. Ask me how I know. Extended my slam time for the same reason. I didn't know it.

I got this brush: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003Q8GCGO

My ladder inside was SLIMY (that is algae in there!). My pool sat looking like yours for three days. Looked at the ladder and thought...that thing is hollow! Cleaned the ladder...Boooooooom. Done.

Wow! Ugh my husband is out of town! I could’ve sworn the ladder rails were capped on the bottom. I just reached down as far as I could and I can’t quite get that far to feel. Do you think it would do that even if it was capped off? I have never had problems with a slam in the past, but I’ve never started with anything near this bad.

Clean every cranny & run water through every water feature - that includes the slide. When you get it a little more cleared up, consumption dies down & have time to babysit the filter you can add a little de to it.

P.s. I ❤️your dog 🐶!
I have kept my bubblers capped and we do not use the deck jets and we probably won’t use the slide. Do I have to open them up if they have remained closed?

And when you get a chance, try that Vitamin C tablet test on the yellowing steps. I'm curious to know if it does anything.
Read this repeatedly, but is that like a small chewable vitamin C tablet? I am worried about what the staining is. The pool store told me I had a high level of copper in the water- disclaimer… I do not use the pool store but had to go there for supplies to get my pH down quickly before the slam and I did let them check the water because I was worried my CYA results were wrong, which it actually was.

Just your regular Vitamin C tablet from CVS, Walmart, etc. Just rub it directly on the discoloration. It won't hurt anything.

They have rubber feet to protect the wall, but they don't seal the ladder rails. As soon as you put it back in place it will glug glug glug itself full again.

Copper must be introduced into the pool- have you added anything with copper in it?
If not they probably just wanted to sell you something! As Pat Said, algae first. Don’t stress.
I have never put anything that is not part of the TFP method since I took ownership of the pool seven years ago. I know they used a pool store and even sometimes the pool builder to maintain it the two or three seasons the original homeowners had it.
I take that back! I am intimidated by the equipment and while I have figured out the opening process, I am too scared to winterize it and I let a local pool guy do that.

but I do let a pool guy close and winterize it.
Did they add any closing chems or did you handle that part ? Many algecides are copper based. My own pool store would tell me to add Bioguard Banish in the fall and once over the winter and then ask me why my copper was at .3 in the spring.

I just looked at the invoice from October and there was nothing under ”treatment” only inspection, winterizing . He did put a couple of pucks in the floater but I don’t know if he has put other chemicals in the past.

Just Keep slammin’, including going on the treasure hunt for hidden offenders, that’s priority number one.
Do try the vitamin c on the stained area & report your findings.
If you haven’t been adding any potions or “blue” stuff it’s likely a non issue. Metals are actually the one test that TFP sometimes recommendeds to have done at a pool store, not necessarily because of accuracy but because it’s cost prohibitive to do yourself, so take the results with a grain of salt until you have further evidence.

We had a couple of inches of rain overnight and FC dropped 1.5 ppm on OCLT and cc is 1. More heavy rain expected today and husband did not have time to remove ladders before work. 😕one positive is that the clarity is noticeably improved. Despite the thick clouds, I can clearly see the third step. I’ll update later.

Husband took a break and removed the bolts in the concrete from the ladders but they will not lift out of the concrete…he’s a strong guy and they are not budging.

Not surprising if they have never been removed since 2013. Can you post a pic or two how/where they are attached?
