Green pool not much maintenance need advice to bring it back to life

i have the pool store coming next week to install new filter, swg, and pump, he is then going to empty pool acid wash and refill, i am wondering what i should do from here, let him do the start up and handover, that's what he said he will do

or should i just let him fill it only, and i take it from there ? i am not sure i trust anyone as far as doing things correctly

if i start it then i better ask what is the best way to do it,
i would put liquid chlorine in to get up to say FC6 , and CYA in to aim for 70, but start slow aim for CYA 50 for starters, and salt aiming for 4000ppm but start slow aim for 3000ppm see how it goes, put this in day 1 and run filter only for say 2 days ?

then do tests, CH, PH. FC, TA, adjust add whats needed , and start SWG after 2 days on filter only, i will wait longer for CYA test to be fully circulated before adding more,

does this sound ok ?

I'm not sure if there are some warranty issues that might make it worth to let him do work.

But I actually don't have any experience there, I'll be learning with you. Bought the house with a filled pool, and have never drained it do far.

At some point we'll have to redo the plaster, so I'll be closely watching what you are learning here :epds:

hi, well update on progress, pool guys came today, installed new filter, pump, SWG, they pressure cleaned pebble crete surface, no damage yay, did acid wash, rinsed all done, dropped a hose in pool and its slowly filling, it was about 2 or 3 inch deep in water at deep end and he poured in 5 litres of liquid chlorine, and 3 kg of powder Stabilizer, and left, so i have a big pile of powder sitting in the deep end, tried brooming it to dissolve but no luck so its there as pool fills,

when pool is full i plan to put salt in and run pump / filter for 2 days with SWG off, then do a backwash , then start swg.......i will start i think with Aussieta idea of 4 hours morning and 4 hours late afternoon , as this pool gets a few more leaves than mine so sounds like a plan.....TBC

PS asked pool guy whats the best robotic his recommendation is Dolphin X30, he is from swimmart and that's what "they sell" but i will look into it...

I tested the x30 and its fine but I don't think it had the 7 day schedule which means you have to start the cleaning cycle manually everyday.

manually everyday.
hi, well i am not sure what is needed or not needed in functions, never had a robot, but i assume it would need to run only once or twice a week, i only brush and vac my pool once a week if its lucky and its ok, but this 2nd pool does get more leaves, though i have cut trees back, so thinking twice a week, i assume it isn't supposed to be left in pool so isn't it just a case of, drop it in twice a week, press go and that's it , not a everyday thing....

Keep brushing at the CYA powder. It is a mild acid but it is still an acid and might cause a problem with your plaster as for as discoloring it.

Many people leave their robot in the pool 24/7. Many people only put it in when they want to run it. It is up to you and your pool's needs on how you handle it.
