Green bathtub ring around pool, CYA too low but TA too high

It’s possible its scale & also organic staining. What is your ch?
Ch is 425 right now. I actually installed a softener on my fill line because of issues with hard water after my first year. I will say even testing now, I have a very difficult fading endpoint. I'm not sure what that means or if thats an issue.

I may try the overnight chlorine loss test again. Its definitely not scale, it's very yellowish. When I scrub it collects on the sponge in a dark green color...like...algae.

Squirt it directly with some diluted liquid chlorine, scrub with a brush & rinse well.
Keep @ slam level until it’s gone.

Hey friends I’m back. And about to go crazy lol I’m not sure at this point if this is algae or scum or BOTH. I started reading some other blogs and one suggests using this product (see picture) and another suggested using granular or chlorine tablets and forming a paste over the tile. Is either of that recommended by TFP?

TFP doesn’t endorse “magic” pool potions. Without knowing the ingredients in that bottle, remember TFP methodologies are to know what your pool needs and add only what your pool needs by accurate water testing.

I’d skip that & just go with liquid chlorine in a spray bottle, & brush, brush, brush. Sufficient amounts of Chlorine will oxidize it if it’s sunscreen/scum.
Trichlor & dichlor (granular chlorine/ pucks are acidic) cal hypo (also granular) adds calcium to the water - you’re not really in the market for that.
You also don’t want to damage the surface.
When was the last time u cleaned the filters?

Hey friends. I did a complete drain and refill of my pool back in April or May because of high calcium. I almost wish I would've just kept that water because ever since my refill, its been nothing but issues. I'm testing pH every day and every day its 8.2 or higher. I add muriatic acid (cant find the higher % stuff I used to use anymore so just using the pool %), I turn on my waterfall after 30 mins or so to try and lower my TA and the next day the pH is back over 8.2 again. I searched the website and I see this is an issue for some, but that the only way to handle it trying to lower the TA which just hasn't been successful for me. TA on 7/31 was 140 and still today, its 140. I have a SWG. I'm worried how this higher pH is going to affect my pool equipment and pebblesheen...because its creeping up DAILY at this point. Its also hurting my wallet with how much acid I'm going through.

Yeah thats true, I'll just keep using chlorine. I have been more vigilant about brushing and the tiles are looking better. I cleaned the filters in May when I had drained my pool. I don't get much debris in my pool luckily but it might be about time to clean them again after doing the SLAM a few weeks ago.
