Hi All. I'd like to get a friend a used pool robot. I'm a fairly DIY person, and would like to find a (I'm guessing Maytronics) model that sold lots, didn't change THAT much maybe over the time it was sold and would have parts readily available.

EX: Different category but I bought a used Weber Genesis grill. It's easy to fix and I'm pretty sure my kids swill still be able to find parts for it after I'm gone. :)

What's the pool robot version of that?

Thanks!

Cam,

None!!!

Most all pool robots wear out after about 5 years and the cost to repair is 75% of a new robot..

Not everyone, of course, but you'd have to be lucky to find one worth repairing.

Maybe find someone that is moving and has a newer unit for sale..

What is your budget??

Thanks,

Jim R.

I'm so sad to hear that!! I guess they are kind of complicated. Motors, some kind of microcontroller, cords that have to work underwater, buoyancy control, and seemingly some kind of accelerometer. Oh well. :)

I was trying to stay around 3-500 dollars but it is a gift so I guess I'd rather not buy her a bunch of problems.
I have been looking on marketplace and there are a couple in that range.

Thanks so much Jim!

Cam,

Check out this review...

Outside of your budget, but the 604 would work if you don't need to schedule it...

That said... are you trying to impress her, or make her wonder why you are buying her junk??

Basically, in what way do you want her to think of you when she turns the robot on??? :)

Thanks,

Jim R.

lol all very good points, Jim. I would prefer she think of me positively when she turns it on (or better yet, doesn't have to ).
Basically she had a very bad pool service company and was bemoaning the 2K bid she got for fixing her chemistry (chemistry I think they're responsible for messing up). 2K ...wha???
I got her back to balanced and this is the next step.

I told her, having your pool serviced is fine if you don't want to do it, but HAVING TO HAVE IT SERVICED because you don't know how everything works and what it does is a pretty vulnerable spot to be in.

'Preciate the help and enjoy your weekend.
