Going TFP for the first time, advice per test?

Long time lurker. Had the pool for about 10 years, for the most part it is very user friendly, but tired of buying large amounts of suggested chemicals from Leslie’s. After taking @Jimrahbe advice from the thread, just got the EVO 614 and super happy and want to take the pool to the next level.

I downloaded the TFP pool calculator app but am already failing as I can’t get it to load my results. I’m sure its user error 🙃

In ground / pebble tec / hot tub

Water looks blue, no current trouble areas.

I’ll keep playing with app, but per TFP, what should I add to the pool and where to start? Excited to get going! Thanks for any advice!

Nice pool and Welcome back.

Start by getting a proper test kit. Without it we really can't give advice. Why? Pool store testing is notoriously wrong, if we gave advice based on wrong test results, we can do more damage than good.

The free version only allows you to enter one testing log. To take full advantage of the APP and save historical testing results, you'll need to subscribe. The subscription is $8 per YEAR.

You need to add either of the test kits from tftestkits.net. you could also purchase the K2006 or K2006C, but both are not as good of value as the TF counterparts. They were designed with how we do things. The TF pro for example comes with better supply amounts for how we test, a $45 stirring device and a nicer case for the same price as the 2006C. The TF100 has 2.7x the supply of the 2006 for the same price.

People say we are biased. Compare them out and you will be too.

The pool store will not test you for free daily unless you purchase their recommendations. Nor are their tests accurate.

thanks @Newdude and @PoolStored for the quick response. I have a “Taylor k-2005 complete (high)” from when I first got the pool. Used it a few times and has been inside my house since. I assume I could start with this one to get going to make sure I’m made for TFP life😂?

Am I testing for all the same indicators as above ?

The Taylor kits besides the 2006 line are every bit as good, but are missing tests.

The 2005 line for example, doesn't come with the k1515 fas/dpd test which must be purchased separately, making it more expensive to build your own k2006.
