Going out of town for 4 days. Chlorine tablet in skimmer?

Normally do the TFP method with 10% bleach added daily. But we are going out of town for 4 days and i dont want to come home to a lost pool.

My thoughts were -

1. Full tests right before we go - make sure everything is good before we go.

2. Bring it to shock level. Thatll cost me a $5 bottle of bleach... worth it imho if it ensures a clean pool when i get back.

3. Drop a 3 inch tablet in the skimmer. Pool pump runs 4 hrs a day. Get tablet out soon as we get back abd run full tests


I know tablet will add 3ppm per day... but im right at 40 right now on cya so if it goes to 50... shouldn't be a issue.

Thoughts? This is a 18x48 Bestway pool with hayward skimmer and 2400 gph sandfilter pump. Dont have a cover.

Never leave tabs in the skimmer. If the pump stops while you're away, the acid will do a number on your skimmer and plumbing.

Instead, tie a floater off in the middle somewhere so it wont sit near a wall. They are $14 and worth every penny for what they might save you.
