Gfi on pump

I have a inground pool that came with the house I bought 3 years ago.It has a 110 volt pump hard wired to a weather proof timer and to circuit panel. It is on a 30 amp gfi breaker.I think during a storm it is tripping.I replaced that gfi when I bought the house.Do I really need a gfi if the pump is hard wired and about 7 feet from pump tobreaker panel?
thanks in advance,
Tom

Yes you absolutely should have GFCI protection on your pump.

The pump motor is directly connected to your pool water via the motor shaft that spins the pump impeller.

If you are tripping a gfci breaker repeatedly it may be the pump and not the breaker that is really the problem.
