Thanks in advance for any input. 33,000 gal vinyl liner inground pool, sand filter, Hayward pump. Purchased T 100 kit with extra regents. Tested last night.
PH 8.4

CYA maybe 20- note I am sure I am overthinking seeing the dot, but I did watch video several times and saw some good tips how to look for it in a thread here so it may be more accurate than I think.
Added 6 pounds stabilizer late last night(of pool math recommended 8, thunderstorm interfered), and now I get 35 CYA. Should I take this up more before doing the pH and slam, I'm concerned I'm not reading the test properly and might be higher than I think.
I have some DE, would it be a good time to add to filter? Pool is total algae swamp. I'm concerned about backwashing also. I wonder in past years if we were backwashing too much and making things worse/losing chemicals.
Anyhow, going to get acid to deal with the pH today. Is there anything else I should do before starting the slam? Oh, and it looks like thunderstorms on and off all weekend, but I want to proceed. Any adjustments to make because of the rain?
