My husband was moving and the mower threw a rock into the side of the pool. We had not even been in it yet. Instantly, a 6-8 inch tear showed up. We patched it on both sides, but it is still "crying". The water here isn't cheap. I'm hoping the patch will, last the season. Anyone have any reassuring comments? Our pool is a 16 x 48 Intex Ultra.

Yikes. I’d be crying too.
No promises that this will last the season, but I would put more than one patch on the inside. Make the next one even larger, so it covers up the entire first patch.

First thing - is it possible for the mower to be equipped with a mulching blade/chipping cap or a bagger?

A tip for patching underwater: use a small rag to push out the air from the glue layer. This helps to make the patch smooth. Use a rag large enough to cover the entire patch and hold it over the patch for a minute to ensure the edges stay tight while the glue sets.
