PB just finished the fire pit with reflective broken glass. I assume I should cover this? It didn’t include a cover.

It depends. What time of material is the bowl made from and also can you tell if there are any holes in the bottom of the fire bowl for drainage? If there wasn't anything like trees or shrubs near by that would be dropping stuff into it and it had drainage holes then I'd be less inclined to mess with a cover. But if there's lots of trees to drop debris then you may want to cover so you're not picking stuff out of the glass all the time.

Also the burner will not last long if it gets rusted out from being in damp/ water and winter conditions.
I would expect that you would want a cover for winter for sure and maybe when its raining to keep water out of the pit. Even if the water drains out via the glass water will fill your burner tube/ pipe.
Also does it have electronic ignition or match light or push and spark start? This may benefit from covering.
Just think of a gas grill. Would you leave the top up all the time..? most likely not.
A custom cover thats easy to take on and off and store would be best.

Ah yes, trees. We have lots and have been battling them all Spring/Summer so far. So yes, I need to cover.
I don't have pic handy, but there is no metal bowl, we took it out. Its pretty tall as we added a row of bricks. The bottom is full of river rock from landscaping. Then a little of the lava rock. Then topped off with the glass.
So Im thinking a lid might be better than a cloth cover.
Anyone have a lid they like? Or is full cloth cover better?
