I have the same issue. I put locks on the gates.

He doesn't have the motor skills to pull up on the latch at the top of the gate, so that's not a concern on my end. Just making sure they shut is the big thing.

Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on your perspective, my neighbor is a 15/16 YO. He shows up at different times, and likes to ride his motor scooter up the ramp to my front porch and back down. We always look around when we hear the brrrrrrrrrrrt of his wheels on the aluminum ridged ramp. Plenty of motor skills here.
