From a Basic Lawn to Private Resort - We Have A Pool! Controlling Pollen...

We met with our PB Site Supervisor today and are very pleased with how he is planning to handle things. We walked our lot, got last minute questions answered and he assured me that when our equipment arrives that he will go through each item on our list to make sure that it was delivered as requested without me even asking about it, and will make sure that the pool bypass is setup and will move the light as requested. We will always meet before work is done to discuss what will happen for the day and after the work is completed, we will review, sign off if pleased then cut the check. I really feel good about the entire process thus far. I'm hoping for a continued smooth relationship! It's starting to feel really real! We're excited to see this 17 year dream become a reality - finally! 🫣😊:whoot:

Congrats !!!!

Brace yourself for the war zone. There's something about seeing a 12 ft high pile of your yard that you were never meant to see. :ROFLMAO:

It has got to get worse before it can get better.

Okay, that's the part right there 😂🤣😂 and my hubby is laid back and chill the whole time, meanwhile I'll be freaking out over seeing all of this Georgia Clay in piles 🙄

So, dig day has finally arrived. The weather is a little iffy, looks like rain is coming our way probably tomorrow or overnight, so I expect there to be a massive GA Clay War Zone in our backyard later today. I'm a little nervous about everything, but excited too! The family is just glad that Dig Day has finally arrived. The crew is on-site and has completed measuring and coloring in our yard with precision color coded drawings all over our bermuda lawn. They have also planned out the water run-off and where the equipment pad will be placed, the location of the propane tank, and have begun the dig and level dance with the excavator. I under-estimated how large this pool actually is because about 70% our backyard is being completely taken over. The propane tank has arrived and will be buried and filled today as well. I can't wait to see how everything takes shape. I decided to take a mental health day today from work, so that I can relax and take it all in. As I type this, it looks like the sun may actually come out, so I'm crossing my fingers on that one. I've posted a few before and after photos of the grounds. We have a pretty big yard as our property sits on just under an acre, and good bit of it is in the backyard. I'm trying to document as much of the journey as I possibly can so that we can have some pics to look back on. I may even pull out some photos from when our house was under construction nearly 8 years ago and do a photo collage for us to kind of watch the journey of our new backyard oasis taking shape. This is exciting and nerve wrecking at the same time, because writing checks for large sums of money, while a blessing, is still an uneasy thing for me, but I'm sure this will be worth it in the end. I'm just praying that our relationship with the PB remains as it is and that this is a smooth running project. The owner was on-site this morning and our pool supervisor and the dig crew have been very pleasant and they are making sure that we're getting what we want, which is a relief. I trust that we've selected the best PB for our needs, so I'm going to just leave everything there and keep the tips that have been provided here on this site at the forefront while making our voice heard if need be. Here we go!!! Yippee Skippie!!!:cheers::wave:

ALL of the above shows you DO have a great pool build happening! SO Nice to see all of the above!!

I know they are doing it right but I am still going to say what I always say...................when they say they are done YOU go out there with the plans and a tape measure. Is it long, wide, deep enough? You will add about 6" to each side for the steel, shell, and plaster. From the the bottom you will add about 6" and measure from the bottom to the middle of the skimmer opening. That will give you the WATER depth.

Yep! They measured everything while I was out there this morning and gave me the measurements as they laid it out. We're getting an additional 2 feet of decking because the pool was shifted back an extra 2 feet from our deck so happy accident 😂. I do plan to go out there to check the depth as well when they're done. Rain is coming in tonight and will be here until Saturday, so work is halted for a few days. I'll post more pictures of the progress from today later this week.

They came back this morning after two days of rain and finished digging and carving out the design, and laying the form for the equipment pad. The plumbers and rebar will be out next week. We should have 5 days of sunshine, so work should be getting done. We will go out tomorrow and measure and do our family inspection since we got in from our son's basketball game just before sunset this evening. So far things are looking good. Here are a few shots that I took this morning as they worked.20230304_145648.jpg20230304_124002.jpg20230304_145648.jpg

Plumbing started yesterday. I spoke with our Project Supervisor yesterday to make sure that the skimmers and main drain would all be individually home runned back to the equipment pad and he said yes. So I'm keeping an eye out for that when they come back today. Here's what we have so far:20230307_074729.jpg20230307_075018.jpg20230307_075037.jpg20230307_074918.jpg.20230307_074724.jpg20230307_074846.jpg20230306_173137.jpg

That Georgia red clay ain't no joke!
Every time I get ready to walk in the house from the "war zone" I wipe my shoes several times then check for mud then wipe again then take them off to try not to track it everywhere. I only go down there to take measurements, videos, and pics or speak with our project supervisor. I've been watching the action from our upper deck or the windows 😂

They started rebar today, but they put a black plastic covering in the deep end. Has anyone seen this done before? Will it affect the shotcrete? I will bring it to the supervisors attention tomorrow morning. They still have more work to finish and will be back in the morning.

Thanks

Well that black tarp is new to me..........A couple of questions:

Are there any "chairs" under the wire in the deep end? Those are those things keeping the wire off the ground.

Is the area under the plastic as wet as it looks?

It is. We had a side chat going on and my guess was it was to keep the gunite away from all the wet. But I've built exactly *0* plaster pools, so. :ROFLMAO:

Yeah, that right corner is wetter than the left corner. Product of the rain we got Thursday and Friday. He had a pump in there yesterday trying to drain it, but he didn't run it very long that I saw. I was telling @Newdude that I was afraid it would cause issues down the line with the shell and plaster, but I have no idea. I do plan to discuss with our Project Supervisor tomorrow. There are no chairs down there yet. They aren't done and will be back in the morning. I'm being vigilent and will bring that and the plastic up tomorrow.
