Hi all,

For the past 3 days, I’ve noticed my free chlorine level hasn’t dropped. Is it normal for chlorine levels to stop dropping in cooler weather? Lately, it’s been about 60F, and my water temp has been around 50F.

This is my first time maintaining a pool in the winter, so I’m not sure what’s considered normal.

Thanks for the help!

Yes, chlorine consumption slows down in the winter months. All due to chilly water which usually means less swimming, less bacteria/organic matter, and a lower angle of the sun. Enjoy the savings in chlorine. :) Just stick with the FC/CYA Levels to keep the FC balanced to the CYA and you'll be fine.
