Free Chlorine Level

23,000 gal, white plaster, DE filter , SWG, solar panels
My CYA level is 70,
PH is 7.2
Calcium Hardness is 550
Total Alk is 80
Water temp is 86
Yet I cannot get the FC level above .5
I've put 20 gallons of liquid chlorine in over the last week with no difference.
Any suggestions?

You can't even make it to 1 ppm? Have you tried to chlorinate manually with liquid chlorine? What test kit are you using?

Have you added any other products to the water other than chlorine, salt, acid, etc? Anything unusual? Also, any chance your FC testing reagents are getting old or compromised?

Have you confirmed the CYA recently ? Ammonia would eat your FC like that.

The testkit is the TF100. Just got it this season. CYA test yesterday. Just added another5 gallons of liquid chlorine. We'll see what happens. If it's ammonia, what do I do?

The testkit is the TF100.

Use the yellow match test in the K1000 for TC. See if it turns yellow.
