Yes the bird!!! He was injured and hanging out in my skimmer!!! Must have gotten sucked in when he landed in the pool... Scared the beejeebers out of me when I opened it up to vacuum the pool... good thing I was trying to recover from over chlorination cause I dropped from 17 yesterday at around 2:00pm to 9 today at at 4:30pm just today... Findind a bird in the skimmer...That is a first... Has anyone else found a live bird or any other unusual animals in their skimmer?

A tiny frog once.
There is a creek and marsh area nearby but not for a whole city block.

Good thing you caught him before he passed on. I was not so lucky one weekend while camping. A bird passed on in the skimmer and plugged it for who knows how long. Long enough for the pump (on a timer) to run dry, which warped the pump basket housing and lid causing me to have to replace the entire unit!
