As the title suggests, I forgot one thing while closing last fall. I left the drain plug on my hayward sand filter still screwed on with water inside....

The filter mode selector was placed between selections, not put down in winter mode. Plumbing lines leading to and from the filter were also disconnected.

Everything is working and running. No leaks, no air in the lines. I'm just wondering if I damaged any internal components like the laterals?

Ice mostly expands up and not out. Theoretically the filter drained to the height of the bottom pipe and was half-ish empty with plenty of room for expansion. Then the sand inside helped a brick of ice from expanding with force because any given piece of ice had to fit between two grains of sand.

But leave it like that because you probably can and it'll split on the first year. :ROFLMAO:

If it seems like its working after some road testing, youre probably fine as said above.
