Foam rope in line

What's the best way to retrieve a foam rope that has moved down the line after opening my skimmer plug? Just a shop vac on suction? I tried a garden hose at the pump and it pushes all the air out but the rope didn't come with it.

I would try suction from the skimmer side or cyclone blower from the equipment side.

@wireform @Pool Clown any pro tips on retrieving a lost foam rope down the skimmer?

I have a CO2 bottle that i use to blow lines out with. You are on the right track though. Always try to back it out, or push it back the way it came.

Thanks, that's pretty much what I ended up doing. Garden hose at the pump wrapped in a dish towel to seal and shop vac at the skimmer.
