flying ants

Hi, I've been lurking here on this forum for a while now and I've learned a lot. Now I have a question.

We got hit with a swarm of flying ants three days ago. The filter took care of most the ants, but it seems like their wings disintegrated into a fine "dust" that floats on top of the water and won't get sucked into the filter. No amount of hand skimming does any good. If I shock the pool will it oxidize the problem? Water chemistry is dialed in on the money.

I don't think "shocking" the pool will help macroparticulate matter like bug wings/dust. The skimmer should get anything on the water surface and get it into the filter, eventually, if it's too small to hand skim with a pool net.
