My Hayward Aquarite SWG is acting up. I have done a bunch of different tests and I think I narrowed it down to the flow switch. I have a T-15 cell. In past years, the SWG would stay on down to 1000 rpm on my VS pump. This year, it's been a random speed. I would lower the speed to see when it shuts off. It was shutting off after several tests at 1225 rpm. Then later that night, I would find it operating at 1150 rpm. I deep cleaned the sand filter last week. Afterward, it was running at 1050 rpm. This morning, it was off at 1350 rpm. My FC has been all over the place. I ran an OCLT to make sure there wasn't any algae and it passed. I used a phone cable to test the jack. The SWG stayed off when the wires were open and turned on when the wires were closed. Another test passed.

When I ran the diagnostics, the cell looks like it is running correct.

Off - 2700, 90, 31.3, 0.09, 40P, -0, AL-0, r15.9, t-15
On - 2700, 90, 25.5, 6.25, 40P, -2800, AL-0, r15.9, t-15
On - 2700, 90, 25.5, 6.25, 40P, -2800, AL-0, r15.9, t-15

Both the t-15 cell and circuit board was replaced in 2015. Serial number on cell is 3E15022-200238. Visually, the thermistor looks fine. Visually, the flow switch looks fine. No deposits on the switch. The switch is original equipment when the pool was built in 2006. Right now, I'm leaning towards replacing the flow switch.

HB,

The key in my mind is do you have good flow or not. Just stick your hand in front of a pool return and it is pretty easy to tell when you have a good strong flow of water and when you don't. If the flow feels good, but the flow switch does not close, then it is bad.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Yes, there is decent flow. Since I recently deep cleaned the sand filter and also backflushed it, there shouldn't be dirt restricting the flow. Also, it is the SWG being off at 1350 rpm when an hour earlier it was on at 1150 rpm that is making me think it's the switch. Only other thing I can think of is the VSP acting up and not registering the true rpms. The reason I'm mentioning this is that the heat pump is also acting irregularly.
