my 2001 altamar has been great for the last 2 months used it last night all was well

this morning i topped it up with my hose heater kicked on for 30 seconds or so then i got OH code display said 37 set point 36 current temp

i turned the pump on for a min nothing changed so i reset the breaker

all is well

turned the tub up to 38 heater kicked on then i got flow and OH even with the pump on 1 or 2 speed
(tub is wired for 60amp filter is brand new sundance)

codes went away but heater comes on for max 30 seconds then goes off WILL stay on if i turn pump on recirc pump is orig to 2001 I can feel flow from the heater jet

now I have flashing flow/temp even with the pump on

any ideas here

Either a flow restriction or a bad circulation pump. Take out the filter and see if it works. Remove circ pump and check for debris in the impeller. If not you likely need a new circ pump.

the circ pump is running and the flow from the port it comes out of feels the same amount as always but I have no way to actually measure the flow My other concern is that even with the jet pump on I still got the flow warning

Low flow while the heater is on causes an oh error because the sensor at the heater gets too hot. There are 2 flow errors, solid and flashing (alternating with the temp). Flashing flo means the pump is on but the switch is open, which is also an indication of low flow. Solid flo means the switch is closed when the pump is off.
Assuming yours is flashing flo, you have 2 low flow indicators. There is either a blockage (clogged filter, leaves in the impeller, etc) or a faulty circulation pump. There is a small chance that there is a faulty sensor or circuit board, but it's highly unlikely.
Depending on how it's plumbed, the jet pump either feeds the circulation pump or it is not plumbed to it at all. If flow is restricted it doesn't really matter if the jet pump is on or not.

When the jet pump is on it feeds the circ pump. With the jet pump running it heats fine without errors. Is it possible for the circ pump to be working but not enough flow without blockage? As I don’t see how anything could have got by the filter to cause a blockage the circ pump is from 2001 so it doesn’t owe me anything

It is certainly possible, in fact it's guaranteed sooner or later. But you would be amazed at what can get past a filter in a spa. The fact that it will heat with the jet pump on does suggest a faulty circ pump rather than a blockage.

Just an update I had a brand new spare circ pump in my garage from a guy o bought a bunch of used spares for my tub I bought it as they are $400+ here in canada and i got it for $100 in the box

RD you were bang on I swapped the circ pump out and it works 100% now the output is almost double my old pump (exact same pump)

the old pump I opened it up and nothing inside it looked fine

thanks for your help!
