Flooding

Just did today's test and still adding water, about 8K gal to add yet to full. FC 2.5, CC 1, TC 3.5, ph 7.7, TA 270, CH 350 today( must have been too tired yesterday and messed up my earlier CH test), CYA 60, Temp 64F.

Tgramm, I did find one fitting on the near side skimmer suction line to pump that was cleaned but never cemented! Right by the ball valve. Came apart in my hand when I was taking unions apart to look for missing O rings. I am going to pressure test the runs from the pump to each skimmer, but I do not know how to test the main drain line unless I dive down, remove cover, and find I can put a plug in the pot. I cleaned and cemented the joint but I am still getting a constant small stream of bubbles in my pump pot.

No auto fill and don't drain water except thru backwashing, which is about every 1-1/2 weeks. I seldom get enough rain to go to the top of the skimmer baskets, maybe only 2-3 times per season, so then I pump enough out to get skimmers working again and then shock it.

I pump out about 8K gal each fall to drop the level to blow and cap lines and snow and rain refill in spring

I put 8 jugs, not gal, in last night. This is 1st time I got any CC reading on my blue taylor test kit, so then I did the drop test for FC and CC to see if they added up correctly.

I see a light at the end of the tunnel now.

The reason you are going thru massive amounts of chlorine is you have organics in the water that are consuming it as you add it, and with high CYA levels it only compounded the situtation. A water leak is very unlikely to be at all the culprit here. You are making good progress, keep up the good work. :goodjob:

today #'s are: FC 4.5, CC 0, ph 7.8 and still aerating, TA 270 so I added 1 1/2 gal muriatic acid, CH 350, CYA 40, 78 F. Water is very clean but hazy. Should sparkle once the TA gets below 100. In The Swim will take back the dichlor and soda ash and Aqua Superstore will take back my 2 new unopened nature 2 G45 cartridges. I decided not to try and use dichlor or cal chlor as I do not desire to dance with the CYA devil any longer.

Thanks for all your help and advice. I will now go have a long island ice tea at poolside.

Bob, I will see if I can figure out how to post a pix

Today's #'s are: FC 6.5, CC 0, pH 7.5, TA 170, CH 300, CYA 50, 74F
adding acid and borax to lower TA while keeping pH at 7.2 or higher, heavy rain and had to pump some water out so skimmers work must have lowered the CH.

I was away camping and got rained out last day. My 13 year old daughter was pooolmeister in my absence; testing and adding chlorine and acid as needed.
