First Time TF-Pro Kit Results & Advice

I got my TF-Pro kit today and it just proved how inaccurate the test strips really are. Even this morning the CYA was still showing 0 on 2 different brand of strips. I had added 14oz of dry stablizer this past Sunday because it was a fresh fill and I didn't want to add to much.
I am going out of town for a week starting this Saturday and I want to make sure I don't have issues while we're gone. My plan is to clean & vaccum this evening. Put the solar cover in place and use the leaf net over that. The sandfilter is running 12 hours a day on at 9am and off at 9pm, I will continue that schedule. I honestly don't have anyone to babysit it, I could talk my dad through restarting the pump if the power would go out.

Here are my results:
TA - 140
pH - 7.2
FC - 9
CC - 0
CYA - 40
CH - 100

Currently I am using 3" stablized Clorox tablets, (left over from last year.) There are 2 in my floater. I have an Intex SX1500 sand filter with glas media filter.

From what I have read and understand I don't need to worry much about the TA of 140 since my pH is ok at 7.2. I probably need the pH to rise just a little anyway but it might do that on its own if I turn the return eye up to bubble a little more. I have the cap off the return aerator.

Do you think I need to address anything from these results? Anything additional you would recommend to do before we leave Saturday morning?
I guess I should add my water is clear and no issues that I can see.
 
Looks good. Do not turn the eye up. You want to slow pH rise if you are going to be away. Turn off or reduce any form of aeration. Cover will help.

I would raise your FC to 16 before you leave.

You are correct, leave Ph alone anywhere between 7-8 is fine.

Fill your Tab floater and have nice trip!
When you come back you need to change to liquid chlorine

I have a few bags of 56.44% Cal Hypo shock and can add part of one. According to the pool math app if I add 9oz of the 53 cal hypo it will raise the FC by 7. Since I can't choose 56% in the pool math app, could I add 8oz and get close to 16, without raising it to much. Its Pace Premier brand I picked up at Ollie's when I got a bucket of AquaMate tri-chlor 3" tabs. I'm taking the forum advice and moving away from Clorox pool brand.

Ok so last night around 8pm I vacuumed & shocked the pool with 8oz 56% cal-hypo shock. Ran the pump all night (which I normally don’t do) just checked my levels since it’s been about 20 hours

TA - 170.
pH - 7.5
FC - 17
CC - 0.5
CYA - 40
CH - 100
Water temp - 76

Yesterday the water temp was 78.

Had some increase of the TA
Very slight increase of pH, cap is on aerator, eye pointed straight.
17 FC - almost nailed the suggested 16
0.5 CC - not sure if that’s correct. I got a very faint tinge of pink when I added the R-0003 reagent. 1 drop of R-0871 turned it right back to clear instantly.

There are 2 of the 3” tri-chor tabs in my floater. They’re not new but almost full size. I don’t want to add more and cause other issues.
I am definitely going to look into liquid once we’re back from vacation and maybe gauge its use based on my CYA levels.

Thank you! It’s funny because I prefer 80 😂😂 running my pump at night always decreases the water temp 🤦🏻‍♀️

Yeah. I’m not worried about it right now. I raised FC on purpose for a week vacation. You guys have been a ton of help! Now here’s to coming back to a stable clear pool!

Thank you guys for your help! My pool made it through my vacation crystal clear. From Friday 6/28 to today 7/7 it’s been alone with the solar cover & leaf net in place. With the amount of leaves on the leaf net I’m very glad I used it and the solar cover while we were gone. The floater had 2 1/2 of the 3” tabs and those are completely gone. I know we had a couple days of rain on and off while we were gone too. Pump ran 8am to 8pm every day. I pulled the Intex floating skimmer and just used the strainer grids for the time too.

Here are my test results after uncovering about an hour ago.

TF-Pro test kit
pH - 7.2
FC - 7.5
CC - 0.5
TC- 8
TA - 150
CA - 100
CYA - 40
Water temp 74

You can see from the attached pictures that I have some vacuuming to do but that’s about it. Add another tablet to the floater and once my FC get to around 5 I’m going to switch to liquid chlorine.
