First time Slam today.

Be careful about adding your stabilizer. Give it a day or two before adding more, it can be deceptive in how long it takes to show up on with the test.

In case no one else has mentioned, if you can see the bottom and your FC is not over SLAM level, you can get in.

I just did another test.

FC is still 12.5
TC is still .5
CYA still has a visible dot, but right at 20ppm it starts to disappear.

My pool is blue, it's just a tad cloudy and a little dirty from whatever my net can't capture on the surface. I'm still waiting on my skimmer.

Make sure you are testing CYA properly:

Do test at midday or near abouts with sun behind you. Pour solution to one line then GLANCE into the tube. You can start by pouring to a line that is well over what you expect.

When you see the dot at a GLANCE, pour to the next line. Glance in. Still see dot easily? Pour to next line.

When the dot is not visible at a lightning quick glance, that is your CYA. There may be a slight whisper of the dot, but you can call it there. If you stare into the tube, your mind will fill in that dot. Hence my all-caps GLANCE.

From this point on, when you do test CYA, do it under the same conditions. If you vary the time of day, or do when it is cloudy, you are going to have different results.

Thanks I'll remember that for my next test. It seems like my finish line is on the horizon.

My tests are incredibly consistent.

FC 12.5
CC .5
CYA 30
pH 7.34

I didn't do the CH or TA test. I have nothing on hand that would increase either.

I can see the bottom clear enough to make out the wrinkles. Still a little cloudy though, like after rain.

Seems safe to get in then. Since you're in a SLAM and water is still cloudy, you can swim but test and top up FC after. You may just be waiting on the sand filter to pull out dead algae and other debris.

If you're looking to speed things up, you can consider adding pool grade DE to your filter.

I wish pictures could show it better. It's more of a haze on the top. My skimmer should be in tomorrow, and our pollen is just ridiculous this season. But this is music to my ears!
