First Time Pool Owner - Need to fix leak

I have a leak coming from this device where it attaches to the pipe. What is it - a chlorinator?

There is a Pentair Model 320 Chlorinator attached to the same section of pipe so I'm wondering if the device shown in the photo can be removed and replaced with a new section of pipe?

If that really is just a chlorine puck dispenser, you can absolutely cut that out of there and replace with one long piece of PVC.
How do you plan on chlorinating your pool? Ever consider adding a SWG?

Thanks for the reply! I was planning to use the chlorinator that's connected to the same section of pipe as shown in the photo.

Hmmmm... I thought you were saying that blue thing was the puck chlorinator. I have no clue what that blue thing is then?

I was asking if the blue thing was a chlorinator - I don't actually know. I was hoping that it was now surplus to requirements and could be removed.

Looks like a Nature2 Mineral cartridge system.

The cartridge should be removed if in there. The minerals provide no sanitary advantage and can accumulate in your pool water and stain the pool surfaces. The Nature 2 mineral pack adds copper and silver to your pool. Copper can stain your pool and turn hair green.

Or remove the entire unit and replace with a piece of straight PVC.

It's a nature mineral system. Dont use pucks your CYA will go out of control. While away it's fine but dose with liquid or do a swg and you wont have to do much
