First time opening

Not sure about the leak- just keep watching it. Is your equipment still under warranty?
Be careful not to overshoot the cya!
Some brands seem to dissolve better than others. If the water is cold that can slow it down. So long as you kept the pump running its ok. But if alot went into the filter it could take longer to register on the test. Just count what you added as being there. Don’t backwash until it registers. I put some in a sock in the skimmer the other day for it to get mushy & when I went back about an hour later it was all gone already! My water is 81 degrees.
Pump is under warranty (Hayward.)
The CYA I added a couple days ago was about 1/4 of what pool math said to add to go from 30 to 50. So tonite I'll add 3/4 of what math said to add today (it's still at 30).
I added muriatic a couple days ago but PH is still at 8.0, more today hopefully will bring it down and my high ALK also.
My water was around high 60's. It's over 70 now (heatwave we're having)

Retest the ph 30 minutes after adding acid repeat as necessary until you get in the 7’s. It probably went down but has just come back up by now. Your
PoolMath logs are empty.

Equipment issues. This morning pump basket was low in water, probably all night. Skimmer was clean (been full a lot lately with maple seed pods.)
Water gushing in thru the skimmer. So I turned pump off, both shutoff valves, filled pump basket with water, restarted. Waited for filter air relief to run a steady stream of water, didn't seem to happen after 5 minutes. Closed the relief, now the pump is still low, sucking some air it seems.
Now just noticed my water level in the pool is about 2 inches low. Topping it up now. Should I shut off the pump until the pool is topped up? )so the pump isn't sucking air.) Is the low pool water level the cause of the whole issue described above?

Yes. Give it a break for a few while you get the water level increased. While waiting, make sure the skimmer weir door didn't get jammed up by something. Also consider pushing water backwards from the pump to the skimmer with a garden hose to ensure something didn't slip past the skimmer and create a tiny blockage. Then make sure the pump is able to pull water freely as it should.

Hopefully you won't have to add fixing a leak to your To-Do list. Let us know how it goes.

I figured it best to shut off pump, did that. Pool is topped up, filled pump basket, restarted it, air relief had a steady stream within a minute this time.
Just checked it and seems to be back to normal. Weir door is at a 45 degree, normal. So low pool water was the cause of all this I figure.
If I ever had to push water backwards, just turn the pump off, close return shutoff valve, stick hose in the basket hole?

Yes, unless you have a pressure bladder, that is one DIY method. Glad to hear water is moving well again. :goodjob:

Just tested everything. CYA finally came up (I forgot it takes 2 - 4 days, I added CYA granules 3 days ago, first increase its shown, went from 30 to 45.)
TA still 170, hard to get PH down. Trying to take PH down to about 7.3.
Nobody swimming yet to aerate. Just finishing the deck, then gotta get some drop-in ladder or steps. Any recommendations?
I want ones that have bolt-on capability to my deck, and has to handle about a 57" high deck from pool bottom.

In case it matters, after you give the acid a few minutes to mix with the water, no need to wait. Active swimming helps to aerate, so have a splash fest. :swim:
Sorry, I meant no swimming yet at all. No way to get in or out of the pool, until steps/ladder gets purchased asap. And water is just warm enough {for the brave.)
Don't want to be bothered with the original A frame ladder.

Count cya as 50 & chlorinate accordingly
FC/CYA Levels .
I have a love hate relationship with my wedding cake steps lol 😂
I drilled lots if holes to prevent them from becoming an algae hotel & had to use alternative methods to accomplish sealed weights.

Will do, I want to keep the FC at the high end of my target. Lots of fine particles in the water from the maple seed pods. My pump was sucking air again this morning, the skimmer was plugged with pods. I'm thinking of turning the pump off before bed, for the next week (pods might be done by then.) Then a good vaccuming. And my cartridge filter I'll spray and clean this week, but how often should I do a soak in cleaning solution?
Bought the SnapLock ladder; simple, easy to install hopefully.

So I bought a ladder, pic attached. Vinylworks snap lock.
Want to figure out a way to weigh it down in the water. They sell weights, I have plastic jugs I could tie to each side, etc. Something that doesn't affect the water or get mold on it.

Maybe zip tie a sand/concrete/rock filled & capped pvc pipe to the bottom step or the sides of the rungs near the bottom? They sell short pieces at Home Depot if you don’t want a whole stick.

That might be a good idea, so that nothing is sitting on the liner. And, is the ladder supposed to touch the bottom of the pool? I think so, and I think they make the bottom of it safe. And would I need to clean under where it touches. Wannna make sure.

It looks like it should especially looking at the bottom step & support wise. You can always cut a pad to put under
