First time closing

I've read that I can use a shop vac to clear the pipes. Is that true? Or is it worth investing in a device specifically for the purpose?

Depends on the size and length of the pipes you are trying to clear water from. Some folks will get by using the blower (reverse) end of the ShopVac to push water. But for some owners, they require a blower designed for such purpose with a little more power (i.e. air compressor, Cyclone). You'll know after a few minutes if the ShopVac has inadequate pressure to push-out water from your lines.
