So I have done a lot of the reading on here about 0 cya. Opened yesterday checked levels today and see my cya is at 0?? Water is clear, numbers below.

fc-8
Tc-0
Ph-7.6
Cya-0
Ta-60
Ca-125

working tomorrow to raise calcium.

could it be ammonia. I really don’t smell much of anything.

8 FC and 0 CC (going to assume that's what you mean by TC) means there's no ammonia in your pool.

The nitrogen process takes CYA to ammonia, but then it can continue the process to nitrite and nitrate if the bacteria has time. It's happened to me before, just disappearing CYA over the winter. Nothing to worry about as long as the water holds FC, just get the CYA back up and be thankful it took care of itself instead of leaving a problem for you to deal with.

Yes, meant cc. Thank you, I will work on getting that cya up.

Sure that it's completely down to zero? Test tube stopps at 30 (some at 20), below that you are more or less blind. Make sure not to overshoot, assuming you are at 0, but you might actually still have 20 in the water. I'd add smaller amounts until you have a valid reading again and then go to your target from there.

I thought I had 0 after we opened. Added about 20ppm worth and let it dissolve - then it was registering as 30-40. (WaterGuru test puts it at 36ppm.) So - glad I didn’t add more. :)

When you are running the first test of the season, be sure the water has circulated about 30 minutes before pulling the sample. It seems to make a difference with the CYA test, not so much with the others. Water temp also plays into it, as CYA tends to not be accurate on cold water.

Forgot the quote:

So I read quite a few threads that have had similar issues with loss of FC to 0 after adding Calcium to raise the hardness. Is it possible. I had FC of 6 this morning and now at 3:30 a fc of 0 and low ph, 7.2. My cya is almost 0 though but could I lose that much fc in a day?
Seems odd

And also from the other thread:

Wow I had no idea, I am always learning something on here. Got to get my cya up then. Will get some liquid conditioner tomorrow. Thx

Be careful with liquid CYA. It's the whole bottle or none. From what I heard, it is nearly impossible to only add say half the bottle. There is a thick slurry in the bottle that needs a lot of rinsing.
