First test and no chlorine?

I had my pool service come out yesterday, they left a cards showing CHL 3+ (I assume that is chlorine levels).
Today is my first time using my Taylor K-2006C and I added about 6 (instead of the 2) dippers of R-0870 and my sample is still mostly clear.
Does that mean there is no no free chlorine in my pool? (Wish would explain the frequent algae issue).
Or do I keep adding R-0870 until I get pink?

You have no FC in your pool water.

Use a 10 ml water sample, one heaping scoop of R0870, then each drop of R0871 to clear is 0.5 ppm FC.

Add liquid chlorine, NOW.

Post a full set of test results.

And start considering why you are paying for someone to 'care' for your pool..
