Hi All,
This is my first try at slamming our pool. We have had on and off problems with yellow algae for the past 2-3 summers. So we got the good kit, made the switch and started the slam 7 days ago. We're still losing 2-3 ppm at night and I'm testing and adjusting the water 3-4 times per day. Brushing daily. Hasn't needed vaccumed in days. Water looks clear. DE filter pressure up since the start but still within normal range. No sign of algae but still using a good 2-3 bottles of 8% bleach a day. Most recent test results are from this morning:
TC = 27
CC = 0.5
PH = 7.6
TA = 120
Calcium = 150
CYA = 60 (rounded up as it was between 50-60 on test)
I rebalanced ph and TA last night. CYA reading is same as at start of slam.
My questions are should I be adding chlorine to try to maintain TC at or above 24 or should I wait until it dips below and then bring it back up? Do you normally see a steady decrease in bleach usage or does it just suddently stop devouring it? We also have an attached spa and booster pump powered vacuum. Any special considerations there? Thanks for your help. I'm trying to be patient but man it's killing my kids that they can't get in the pool!
