First SLAM - question about pump speed and runtime

I am getting ready to start my first SLAM today and was wondering if I could get away with running the pump 12 hrs/day instead of 24. I ask because I live in Phoenix and electricity rates are very high here during the daytime. Also, I have a variable speed pump, does it matter if I run it at low versus high rpms? If low is ok then running the pump 24/7 doesn't seem quite as daunting financially.

You only need to run your VS pump at 1200 rpm or so. You do not want to use your SWCG during a SLAM.

If you turn off the pump for part of the day it is not the end of the world. Do you have a robot?

Then plan to brush, swim (if the water is clear enough) etc when the pump is off. If you shut it off.

Am curious to know why my SWCG should be off during a SLAM. Is it simply so that have control over my FC levels or is there another reason? Thank you!

It's more for the reason that your SWCG won't be masking your chlorine usage. It's especially important by the end of a SLAM while doing OCLT test. Running SWCG can easily gave false pass result.
