Exactly. So if you normally leave backwash to waste outlet turned off the rain overflow in scimmer top side outlet to that pipe is obviously pointless. Maybe I replumb scimmer overflow after backwash valve shutoff so is always on for rain overflows. Again I'm usually not this dumb depending on who you ask, but this is my first pool and i started off hiring a pool service here but it didn't go so well!
Edit. I just had coffee and reread your reply..yes water looks great . So I went from 30.5 to 29 this morn so almost passed test.1.5ppm loss

In OCLT is also important to test for CC it must be 0.5 or less

At the end of slam, many people add some DE to their sand filter, to eliminate some specks from the water, to have the water crystal clear (TFP water), instructions for that also in pool school, I do it usually after a backwash
