First post, first pool, so apologize for any simple questions. I am getting an AGP, Aquasport 12' round and going to install it semi inground. The package is coming with a Heyward filter (ST180) with a 1.5HP pump. They recommended glass media for the filter. Just wanting to confirm this is a good setup, anything i should reconsider etc. And any opinions on a salt generator for this size pool?..

Thank you in advance , have a great day

Welcome to the forum!
Sand filters should use sand for the filter media. Be sure to get properly sized, quality pool sand. Do not get Quikrete brand, it has shown to be problematic in the past .
I suggest you read through Pool Care Basics - Trouble Free Pool and even look at a few of our videos TFP-TV - Trouble Free Pool

Thank you for the reply! Based on your post i am guessing you are against the glass media? Just curious as to reasons. Ive been reading up and trying to discern the pros and cons between sand/glass.

Based on pool size is the Hayward St180 with 1.5 HP a good system? I was asking because this is coming from the pool store people, I'm just trying to make sure I'm not being upsold on anything.

Thank you again

thank you again for the link and info. Would a 1 HP single speed also be an approved option for that size pool and filter? Or is the variable speed the better option.

You really want a two speed. Most small pools have way too big of a pump.

You can try a 1 hp single speed. But be prepared for filtering issues as you can overwhelm the small filter.
