First look at Pentair's new IntelliChlor Plus30

That sounds fantastic!

Now I wonder if it'll still be compatible with my IntellipH. The IpH talks to and controls the IC, especially during acid dispensing, when it temporarily bypasses the IC to prevent acid and chlorine dispensing at the same time. That'd be a biggie for me. I still should have many years to go on my current IC, so it'll be a while before I'll know for sure. But Pentair must have taken steps to maintain compatibility with EasyTouch and IntelliCenter, etc, so hopefully the comms and protocols didn't change.
All the literature I’ve seen says it’s plug and play compatible with automation. I can’t imagine it wouldn’t be compatible and plug and play with the IPH. I’m in the same situation as you. 🤷‍♂️

I wonder how much a replacement sensor mode will cost when one of the three sensors fails.

Any bets on how long before clone sensor modules appear on Amazon?
The listed replacement part number for the module isn’t immediately available with my supplier for cost/ordering. I’d assume in a week or two, I can search it up for comparative purposes.

Good deals and service have been from:
Sellers have to follow the MAP pricing.

Sellers have to follow the MAP pricing.
Sellers can charge more than MAP and many do.

They can also sell it for less than MAP. See Exhibit B Para E. They just can’t advertise the price. But if they say to call for the price it can be less than MAP.

MAP = Minimum Advertised Price.

So, no authorized seller can advertise a lower price than the MAP.

However, they can charge more or less.

Sellers may sell products at a lower price than the MAP policy, as long as that price was not advertised in any way.

Good luck with it. I hope I don't need a new one for many more years. Has anyone seen pricing I'm sure the plus means more $$$$.

I wonder if a lot of retailers are going to hold off selling them to use up any stock of older versions. Does Pentair do buy-backs from their retail sellers if they have old stock?

I doubt it. Pentair wants the old ones sold.

EasyTouch is still available new almost two years after Pentair declared it obsolete and said it could not be ordered.

FROM MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE ONLY…..the suppliers I buy from….once units are acquired and are in the supply chain and on shelf to be sold, there is no buyback incentive….. it’s a supplier issue…FIFO inventory principle. If you’re the lucky guy to want an IC40, but the supplier has sold out of his aged inventory and only has an IC40 plus available, that’s what you’re sold. Pentair isn’t concerned with what’s sitting on a local suppliers shelf which is why you still see antiquated tech sold on the innerwebs. The local guy is just trying to get his cash back out of the inventory he’s purchased as well. If you want one, it will become available, it’s just a matter of when and the current stock depletion in your area unless you shop the net.

Any idea when the IC40 Plus might be available? I'm looking to convert to saltwater before the swimming season arrives to save on chlorine costs. I'm in Texas so I was putting about a gallon/day in last summer. Think I should just go with the old IC40 do you think the IC40 Plus will be available in the next month or so?

So far no positive word back from any that I have contacted. They’re still in the “it’s too early to think about pools” state of mind so most responded with “later in the year” … Maybe better luck to twist the arm of a pool service company or local pool store to see if they’ll order it … expect a markup in that case.

Yeah I have a buddy that does pools but he said the PNs are not even listed with the two distributors he uses (not sure which ones) and he hasn't heard anything on availability. I don't think he's a Pentair authorized dealer or anything though.

This site claims it has ssoe of the models. They come up as a top search everytime I look up anything filter related.
If they actually have them that’s not a bad price. I’d charge about $150 more installed for the unit (IC40 plus is the unit I referenced for cost purposes) (not including labor) but my price includes taxes, travel time and mileage to procure etc. If you compare them to “typical” internet markup they may be a little high, but with a unit so new it’s hard to tell what the net will charge.

The regular ICs are on preseason sale right now but the IC40 should be $1400 and change to the new ICplus40 here for $1509. Thats reasonably similar IMO for a supposed improved design.
