Finally... Now a question about my skimmer cover

We finally have the patio around the pool done. The pool is still running on the temporary electric hookup. Hopefully the permanent electrical setup will be done next week. So right now just the pump and filter are running, no heater yet. I have attached some pictures.

So now I want to know about my skimmer cover. Do I have to keep it screwed in? It's such a pain to have to unscrew it every day to empty the basket of the leaves that get sucked in. Thanks.

Mine is not screwed down for the same reason. I imagine if someone some how
got hurt then we might be libel.

I've actually never heard of anyone having them screwed down?!?! What a pain that would be!

Turn the pump off while emptying the basket. Have you considered using Skimmer Socks?

Thanks. It came with the screws so I've just been using them. But now that the work is done back there, there won't be so much traffic so I think I'll just take them out.

As far as a skimmer sock goes, what's the advantage of that? Won't my DE filter trap the smallest particles anyway?

The skimmer sock will help to keep particles out of your filter so you don't have to clean it as often.
