So i installed my new sand filter and pump but it doesn’t seem to reach the other end of my pool. i have a 18x33 oval pool

What size is your pump, and how many gallons is your pool? I’m not sure what you mean by it not reaching.

Having a skimmer and return close together does not allow good circulation of the water. The skimmer and return should be at opposite ends of the pool.

My pool configuration is like that too - factory installed cut outs and I really didn’t want to cut through my resin wall. So I have a directional eye on my return, and point it in the opposite direction from my skimmer. With the help of the wind direction usually being towards the skimmer, I do get good circulation.
OP, if you are expecting to actually see the return water jet on the opposite side of the pool, that isn’t going to happen. But you can test your circulation - throw a leaf in at the opposite end and see what happens.

the filter and pump are both new and I installed everything according to the instructions and it just doesn’t seem like it’s strong enough

It is not a well designed setup. Water comes out of the return and immediately gets sucked into the skimmer next to it.
The return should be on the o0ther side of the pool so that the skimmer sucks in the pool water from the entire pool.
Strength is not the issue. You are limited by the single skimmer and return placement.
If you want to begin cutting into your pool then a second skimmer and one or two more returns on the other side can improve the circulation.

What make & model pump do you have?
Most all above ground pools are like this with the return & skimmer near each other.
As Kelly said pointing your return jet to the right will make the water flow in a toilet bowl manner around the pool & back into the skimmer.
Most large oval pools usually have two returns to help with this.
Ensuring your water level is correct (about 1/2 way up the skimmer or a little higher) & that your skimmer’s weir door is functioning properly will help.

that’s what i thought and I called the company where i purchased the pool from and they said no it comes pre cut

Unless you are a very big tinkerer, live with it. Everyone with that pool does.

Is the new pump the same size as the old pump ?
I bet you knocked the return somehow while connecting the pipes and the eyeball moved. Aim it to the right and also so it creates just a little surface movement.
The toilet bowl method is preferred for circles and ovals. It is very effective when aimed correctly.
