Filter sand or something else?

As long as I've had this pool <2yrs, I've noticed this debris on the bottom. After doing a thorough vacuum yesterday and seeing a perfect shallow end, I wake up this morning to the sandy debris at the bottom of the pool. Yesterday when vacuuming I had a filter sock on the basket, and caught some of it, and it is a slimy sand. It must be coming from my filter right? What do I do?

It could be dead algae. Do an OCLT. Pool School - Perform the Overnight FC Loss Test (OCLT). That should help confirm if you have algae or not.

That is probably algae, not sand. Could you post a complete set of test results?

Sorry its a 20 x 40 in ground 8ft deep end, with sand filter, no heater 1hp single speed pump. Milwaukee, WI. I'll fill out my signature as well, and do the test you recommend tomorrow. Thanks!!!
