Hi all. Sorry am completely new to this and having a few question. I have plans to have a sunken intex pool and wondering if all these machines can be above the pool itself (on the ground) or does it have to be a lower level. Also i intend to have them a few meters away from pool as so not risk electrocuting anyone. Any problems with that? Tks.

Hey Pedyo and welcome !! Exactly what equipment are you getting ? Typically above ground pool equipment isn't powerful enough to prime an in ground style pool, they are banking on gravity self priming the system. If you are using the Intex equipment that comes with the pool, they are particularly wimpy and it probably won't work. Post what you're getting and the equipment pros can look it over.

I dug a hole in garden ready to put in the paddling pool for when the weather is better. i will want to have a heater and wasnt thinking of using any of the intex machines as i have read like you said yourself that they arent very good. What would you recommend for heater, filter and pump? My idea was to have the machines at ground level (ie above the pool) and run some pvc piping from the pool to the machines. But as i said before i am very new to all of this so any guidance would be much appreciated.

I think any Intex pool with metal support legs will not last long buried. The metal legs will rust out quickly. Intex pools don’t last long above ground. You need a resin pool rated for ”Direct Burial “ if you expect it to last more than a season or two.

I agree Intex inground = bad. What do you consider to be a long time? Our neighbors Intex is going on year 8 with no issues so far...

Intex quality seems to have declined over time and a pool bought today does not seem to last as long as one from 8 years ago.
It is above ground. It is just a metal framed version (not prism or XTR).

That is a different setup then the OP's plan to put it sunken in the ground.
i dont mind having to change the pool every 3 years. plus it will be dismantled over the winters. think it should be ok. will have zero contact with ground/soil etc, i dont see why it shouldnt last..
The air circulation and exposure to the sun around the pool will be greatly reduced, so there will be more moisture than usual. Many Intex pools are prone to rust and the moisture is what gets them everytime. You almost certainly won’t get 8 years, but 3 very well may be possible if you’re taking it down each year. You will want to be extra careful when installing/removing to not disturb the coating anywhere. If there is any exposed metal the clock starts ticking immediately, and quickly at that. There are many rustoleum products for touch ups and just as many threads about them if you do a search before you actually need one.
All that being said, I think your design/layout will look awesome if you don’t mind the shorter lifespan.
