Filter balls blu and algae

Took out the old sand from my filter and replaced with Filter balls blu. I have noticed the pressure rises after a day or so running, indicating need for backwash, but discharge water doesn’t appear to have any algae etc. I have had a reoccurring problem with algae also. I have an Ecosmarte Cu+ pool and have never had this problem. Anyone have any insight or ideas?

It sounds like you have too many fluff balls in the filter. Could they possibly be holding on to too much water causing higher pressure? I only deal with sand so I'm just guessing?

Do those fluff balls contain copper? Things with "blu/blue" in their name more than not do contain copper.

That Ecosmart system is also adding copper to the water. Once the level gets high enough you'll be having to deal with stains in the pool.

If you're getting algae that means you need more Chlorine in that water, and proof that the Ecosmart isn't so smart since it let algae take hold.
